Our collective shame: the way we trash our city
Here's something that will make your blood boil. Take a look at these pictures I took at Yokuts and Beach parks down by the Kern River. What are people thinking?

Absolute pigs! They probably care for their homes as well as they care for our parks and common areas.
Very disheartening. This is OUR community. Have some respect for yourself and others - clean up after yourself.
Unfortunately I doubt those who cause the mess will ever change their (or their children's) ways or read this for that matter.
It's troublesome to think that the river could be a great asset to this community, only to be treated like a infinite water source for ag and a trash receptacle for recreation seekers.
It is a terrible thing but complaining will only get you so far. How about organizing a clean-up crew? I walk the bluffs all the time and whenever I see trash, which is not often, I pick it up and run it to the trash can. Are there receptacles near the river along those parks? Can people be cited for trashing up the area? Can signs be posted? I think a clean-up drive on a weekend when people are out there would do some good and serve as a way to show the messy ones that they need to quit being kids and clean it up. We need to lead by example. Or call the city or county and get those Work Release Program or juvenile inmates out there to clean up the mess. I have seen them along the freeways and it seems to help.
Why would anyone want to swim in this river? It truly looks like a third world country. They are probably crapping in the river too. YUK. Similar to what a WalMart parking lot looks like.

You wanted water in the river. These are the type of people you attract. Congratualtions.
Send them home and let them trash their own country.

Isn't it illegal to drink at parks and river? Sounds like police to do some patrolling and citations.
I was in favor of water in the river until now. I've changed my mind. Post these pics in The Californian, please.

I drive by this everyday from Round Mountain road. I was just commenting to my wife about the mess down by the river. It's Horrible.
